Utoquai 6:00 (Chillout, Ambient)
Utoquai Part 1.mp3

Utoquai Part 2 Excerpt.mp3
The track captures the atmosphere of a hot summers evening in Zurich by the lake, the open air bars and restaurants with perhaps a hint of a thunderstorm in the distance. The title actually refers directly to the name of the left bank of lake Zurich.

Part 1 is the first 2 minutes of the track, mixed as a stand-alone piece for choreographers looking for a short ambient track. The excerpt from part 2, a 4-minute section with chilled beats, is taken from 2:07 to 3:47 with a slight change to the arrangement in the last 4 bars to make a natural ending.

Azimuth 7:55 (Trance, Dream House)
Azimuth Edit.mp3
A quite dark high energy trance track evoking a feeling of turbulence, emotional turbulence, or perhaps a Summer Storm.

The edit of 3 minutes 44 seconds, starts just before the breakdown and has a shortened ending.

Aftermath 3:59 (Neo-Classical, Chillout, Ambient)

Aftermath Edit .mp3
The track captures a feeling of waking up after a dramatic event with the sudden realisation that everything is no longer as it was. The track is in 5/8, as I wanted to write in a different time signature and the first ideas I played were in 5/8. The choir actually carries the rhythm and then strings, trumpet, Fender Rhodes piano and harp (the harp is in the last part not featured in the edit) are layered on top.

The edit is comprised of parts 1 and 2 of the original 3-part track and is the first 2 minutes 19 seconds of the full track.

Gondola 5:55 (Chillout)
Gondola Excerpt.mp3
The track is in 2 parts; the 2-minute ambient introduction is sub-titled “Don’t look back now” and reminds me of a scene that I think was from a Hitchock movie in Venice. The tension builds slowly through the introduction, as if you could hear the footsteps of someone following you. Then the tension resolves itself; in the full mix the beat comes in, where as in the stand alone version there is a dramatic key change.

Gondola Part 1 ‘Don’t look back now’ is the first 2 minutes mixed as a stand-alone ambient track for choreographers looking for a short ambient piece. It has a new ending using the chord change from the end of the full mix to dramatic effect.

The excerpt is a composite edit from 2:00, where the beats start in the full version, with the last 30 seconds taking elements from the end of the track to create a natural finish.

Mollases 8:38 (Trance, Dream House)
Mollases Edit.mp3
The track captures the exuberance of the Zurich Street Parade, an annual dance music event held each August, which is similar to the Berlin Love Parade. The middle section of the piece, which is at the start of the edit, makes me imagine a vast flock of doves spiralling around Zurich Hauptbahnhof (main station) where many of the Street Parade events take place.

The edit starts at the breakdown, which is reproduced in full, and lasts 3 minutes 5 seconds. Although this version is quite heavily edited, it gives a good impression of the moods and textures of the full piece.

Sand Dream 7:24 (Trance)

Sand Dream Edit.mp3
A trance track, written in 2001; it has a Middle Eastern or Moorish feeling, due to the use of key and the sound design. The breakdown evokes a strong feeling of resignation.

I made a new mix this Summer (2004), partly as an experiment to see how much replacing the software reverb with a Lexicon PCM91 Digital Reverberator would improve the sound (it did a lot) and partly because I still think it is a great track.

For the edit I created an ambient track based on the introduction and the breakdown with a new ending, to give an impression of the textures in the full track.

San Lorenzo 6:15 (Chillout)
San Lorenzo M12X1.mp3
Atmospheric ambient track with rich textures, beats and swirling vocal effects; the lead sound in the intro has a slightly Spanish (Moorish) feel to it. The idea for the track was conceived while siting on a balcony in a hotel in Lugano (Switzerland) looking at the lake and the church of the same name. The excerpt is taken from 4:45 seconds to the end.

The intro to the excerpt is new and uses elements from the intro of the full-length track. The edit of the track simply takes the last 3 minutes from the silence at the end of the ambient middle section, as it makes an effective piece in it’s own right.
